Until earlier this year both my 20 year old son and 22 year old daughter have been able to drive my Tiger under their fully comp ins. (minimum legal
cover with owners permission etc)
Both on renewal over the last couple of months have found that their policies are now car specific (no other cover).
This afternoon I have been ringing arround trying to have both on my policy as named drivers - no luck. "Sorry no one under the age of 23 sir
"
Has anyone out there solved this type of dilema ?
Mike
Hmm My son's Jago Jeep... only a 1600 crossflow, and just standard engine. they wanted £2500

Just for Him!
Most kit car insurance Co's wont do parent / Sibling insurance, as they wont insure my son, on my car.
ie they are getting wise to putting your kids on mum / Dads insurance.

Hi, first post so hope it works OK
I've insured my two kids (19 and 22) for my Westfield this morning. Only two companies that I could get to do it were Footman James and MSN. Both
will insure up to 4 drivers for the car and age does not seem to be a problem. Not cheap though, it is only a 1300 xflow but TPFT still comes out at
over £500 for 4.5K miles. Still they still do it at the moment. Footman James worked out cheapest as they gave a good discount for club membership.
Hope this helps
I'm 22 and insured with Sureterm fully comp for £330 ish.
We were told that Insurance companies are removing the ability to drive any vechile from all policies at the request of the "police" to prevent you from saying you were not driving the car when speeding tickets are issued.
...im 24, still building a 2 litre vortx where should i look for insurance??
search for the word insurance, theres loads of old thread full of good recommendations
See this post:-

Yes ! done the search , no problems insuring myself only. Most competitive quote from Roadsure @£131 for £8k value and 4k miles.
The big problem is the two named drivers under 23, has no one come up against this problem as yet. I suppose I could insure them at any cost but is it
worth it ?
Mike
why would you want the kids driving your car?!
well im 24 and girlfriend is 19... so i may have problems too!
you may just have to brunt the cost too let your kids have a play!!
As I said yesterday, insured my two kids so that they could enjoy the Westfield as I enjoyed my Lotus Elan over 30 years ago. My son (19) has shown no
interest in the Locost I'm building or cars in general. I let him take me out in the Westfield today and the grin on his face was something to
see. Already booked the car for tomorrow so that he can take his girlfriend to the beach.
Price of the insurace, B**%*y expensive, that grin on his face - priceless. It's what being a parent is all about, don't be tight share the
fun.
Best regards Keith
Son and daughter have both driven Tiger quite a lot ! Daughter has been done for speeding in it, not good for insurance purposes.
Mike.
P.S. Probably have to bit the bullet and pay up accordingly ! ( they keep on asking "is it insured for us yet"
