I rang round about 15 scrappers today asking for bits from a sierra and all of them gave the same response that they dont really see them any more and
several of them said they wont stock anything over 10 years old
Is this the same for the rest of the country?
One thing this brought to mind was why does the new "book" soon to be published still use sierra running gear?
Are the parts not common to granada range? I know they have five stud hubs etc but diffs, gearboxes and engines are the same.
I tried a local scrappy for something else (what escapes me now) and I got similar response.
If they can't make much money from them ie selling off spares, it's probably more profitable to have a higher turnaround of crushing cars
straight to the recyclers for the "metal" value. Given current prices for raw materials, I reckon your local has probably crushed a couple
of hundred in the last month

There are several sierras running near me. Many look to be in quite good nick.

copper has gone up so fast that ive actually started saving scrap myself!
Feel like a bloody gippo routing through the skip at work

Hehe wont be long before its more economic to manouvre asteroids into earth orbit to mine...
Perahps ive a read a SciFi book one too many
the sierra carb models are getting pretty rare here... not many at all on the streets or in running condition...
there are still loads of injection ones though...
I spent a few months looking then two local dealers had cheapo runners. I went for the one with 6 months Tax and no broken suspension but higher
milage (by a long way). I figure I can trade in the extra tax and ebay what I don't need as its all in farily OK nick.
Oddly I've seen around half a dozen or so 1.8 sierrras both hatch and estate running around since (mostly in red)
there's a bloke near hipperholme that had probably 10 sierras in last summer. was like a farmer's yard that he'd decided he'd
start putting scrap cars on. all in reasonable nick, but mostly cvh.
can't remember names or owt, but i can try getting my dad to give directions if you fancy an afternoon out.

What bits were you after?
if you dont mind pay the same price as gold theres a guy near me in sutterton (pe20) that has about 60 sierras and about 20 cortinas in stock, and you
get to wonder around with your long coat on with big pockets, you know to keep fuses in etc
£45 for the back end if you want to drop it yourself.
I acutally found one this morning but it had a lock nut on the wheels but he did have the key and the guy wouldnt let me weld a breaker bar onto it incase it damaged the alloy wheel, when i asked how he intended to get it off he just shrugged!
Hi all,
I've got a Sierra 1.6 Pinto on a K plate with a head gasket gone that you can have for £75.
Mot until may next year IIRC
