Well I finally got my 20 quid MIG welder going after a) finding the gas bottle was empty b) finding the welding mask had no lens c) finding there was only about a meter of wire. Hell not bad for 20 quid though.

As the last welding I did was arc when I was 16 I thought it was time to practice. So out came my rusty old screw fix saw and some emery paper. One shiney saw later time to have at it.

The saw now has UFO written down the side. It was going to be Fuck You but I sort of went wrong. The tip has a huge lump were I blew through then practiced filling in (adds a bit of weight when pushing in to wood).

I then found an old space and bit of metal bar so the saw now also has a slight/scope mounted half way down the blade in case you want to saw through something that is a long distance away.

Oh and its more warped that Gary Glitter

Still weliding is great isn't it. I may try welding the dog's collar to a bicycle next to make it easier when he wants a walk.

Just got my free arc welder up and running after getting a mask and some 2.5mm sticks, first attemp I couldn't get an arc apart from welding the stick the my small box section, numerours times, and a few more times. Finally got an arc running and burnt through it. Less power needed I think

Decided to chip the slag off my new "weld" and managed to burn my arm from the flying slag, Doh!

At least I'm learning for less than £30 in sticks, mask, gloves and hammer.
