the misses had a bump in her tintop about 8 months ago. it was her fault and a claim was made, as expected her renewal went up by £150. as did quotes
from other companies
what i don't understand though is when I was added as a named driver the quotes fell back down to within £20 quid of the original pre-bump
quote?
insurance premiums are risk determined. so why does adding me to the policy reduce the risk??

same sort of thing as i had put the wifes name on my tintop as a second driver & it came down quite abit ( shes got more points than me
)

same here, i got my mother as second driver, brings it down a fair bit, she does use the car honestly!!
Insurance quotes for single men are often higher than for married men. They work on the fact that you become more sensible / are more sensible if you
marry. It's all to do with probabilities and categories of people.
I guess with you that they assume you'll be doing some of the driving and that crazy crash woman will be doing less.
So how do they work that (more sensible / are more sensible if you marry) as you have to be nuts in the first place to get married
It's probaby something to do with the wife complaining about the fuel use, slow down you'll crash, watch that tree dear.......... It's
also someone else's car too, so you'll get it in the neck if you break it. I certainly did.
Signed a recently married man whose missus used to own a skoda.
When I insured the Indy last year the premium was £150, so I thought I'd get my wife put on too. Came down to £131. When I asked them why, they
said because she's statisticly safer than you, so if she's driving it, it's less likely to be in an accident.
Great init.

Funny that....let me girlfriend drive the other day and she kept going from third to reverse! Not sure why they think she'd be safer??!!
Fully comp on my Supra as a second car no NCB unlimited mileage is £322, enquired about my son going on it, 6000 miles p/a and it went UP to £5579. So I bought him a Punto instead.
