Noooooo, they're all flat

Very impressive pics, but if they don't depress you, look up pics taken by the Hubble known as the HDF (Hubble Deep Field).

The Hubble was pointed at a fairly sparse region of space, for 14 days. The picture from it was the equivalent of
looking at 2sqmm at arms length.

Over 3000 galaxies were counted!

We are all just microbes living on a speck of dust floating round a light bulb and every day someone comes into the room and switches on the light, and then they switch it off again and leave us in the dark. I think too much sometimes, but other times I don't think at all. I'm not sure which I prefer. One day the bulb will go and we'll all have to wait for a new one from the cupboard under the stairs.

I think it's kind of depressing that we have so many galaxies to populate, let alone planets.

Much as I like to think there is (or has been) life out there, I'm beginning to wonder if it's going to be down to the human race to (re)populate.

Trouble is, I object to journeys more than a couple of hours long
