The Animal Planet network's Extreme Animals show rated the North American Mountain Lion as #1 Deadliest of the "Big Cats".

On average they KILL 97% of the game they go after.

The population of M Lions is growing to the point that even though Federal Regs. forbid firearms in National Parks, the Park Rangers will advise you to go armed.

There was a child Killed and partly eaten by a Black Bear just about 50 miles from here about a year ago....and I live in a fairly populated region.

Here on Vancouver Island in BC, Canada, we get several attacks per year from cougars, but most are on small adults, children and small dogs. Large adults are viewed by cougars as generally too dangerous to be prey, and large dogs are generally viewed by cougars as predators to be avoided. I'm 6'2, 210 lbs, and have a Rottweiler and a Doberman. Pretty safe to walk in the woods, I think...
