graememk - 15/5/07 at 09:06 AM

my mate won this on ebay the other night.

I thought it was about 3k to cheap so i got a hpi done on it and it says" this vehicle is recorded on our security watch register"

anyone wants to see the hpi give me a shout

ebay

isn't it saying that on HPI because it was a repo? unless the ebay listing is full of lies to sell cheap.

Could you not tell something was up by his feedback? A rating of 1 would have me worried if i was buying a bolt from him, let alone a car!

Danozeman - 15/5/07 at 09:15 AM

Look at his feedback. That should tell you alot!!

rayward - 15/5/07 at 09:19 AM

phone the police, and ask them if they have any "interest" in the car,

as said though, going on his feedback, i would run a mile!!

Not sure, but the hpi use that to mean (from their FAQ)

Security Watch

Many types of organisation (such as car rental companies) use HPI's Security Watch service to register vehicles that should not be put up for sale. The HPI Check will tell you if the car you want to buy is one of 120,000 vehicles that could be being sold illegally.

So it seems to be saying the true owner (probably a company) has taken the time to register it with HPI as not being legal to sell. If it was a repo being sold on legitimately I'd expect them to have removed the block.
Might be an admin cockup but I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole until that flag was removed.

no offence to you mate, but why the hell would you get involved with someone with feedback like that?

Cheap car or not, just not worth the aggro!

graememk - 15/5/07 at 09:32 AM

Although someone i knew drove to Southampton, he was looking for Northampton and assumed it can't be far away.

As for HPI, most companies that put the 'block' on may not have any interest in the car once its been repo'ed, so are they really going to be bothered about removing the block on a car that they don't own any more???

My brother is a Debt recovery agent (repo man) and you would not believe the number of cars that get re-po'ed every day, so there may be nothing wrong with this one at all.... but as above, the feedback would scare me away.

And finally, i think that price is a bit low, you would need to pay me DOUBLE to drive a Vectra

Fatgadget - 15/5/07 at 09:49 AM

I don't get it.Didn't all of you questioning the sellers feedback also have a feedback of his level at some point? Did that then mean you were dodgy?

iank - 15/5/07 at 09:50 AM

You miss-read it, he's got 4 positive and 3 negative for a net of 1. Look at the percentage

iscmatt - 15/5/07 at 10:58 AM

Aye you have mis read it. He as 51.7% feedback

FEEDBACK <----- click

He needed to click on the feedback, you then get this page

blakep82 - 15/5/07 at 11:04 AM

hmmm, he already tried to sell this car before. interesting. came up to the same price last time too

iscmatt - 15/5/07 at 11:13 AM

it would seem, looking at his feedback, it takes him two attempts to sell any of his vehicles
