Diesel Engine Fault
dnmalc - 13/8/07 at 04:09 PM

On holiday travelling at less than 20mph the engine on my SAAB diesel (this is the pre common rail 2.2 litre GM /Vauhall unit) suddenly cut out and refused to start or even fire on a single cylinder. As we were due to return to the UK the following day the car was recovered to a saab dealer who have rung today to tell me that the problem relates to the timing of the diesel pump which has to be replaced . Estimated cost of the repair is ....€3000....yes three thousand euro. Are the taking the wee or what???

fuel pump is common with them.

and has to go on a tech2 after fitting, you will be looking at £85 + at main dealer per hour.

i charge 550 for the pump and arund the same for fitting but i remove the manifolds and clear out the soot which can nearly fill the inlets if the pump starts playing up
