Hi,

A mate of mine has bought a P reg fiesta for his son to learn to drive in and it keeps cutting out when your assending a slip road and dip the clutch to either coast or change gear.

It does it more so assending than desendine and wont do it on the flat.

Its a 1.3 petrol encore 1997. and he said its an enduro engine? means nowt to me.

he has changed the speed sensor and tis made no difference at all.

Any suggestions or things to check out?

Sounds like an air leak on the induction side to me.

Id check all the intake manifold bolts for tightness and try the old WD40 trick when its idling around the throttle body and under the air cleaner.

Sounds like it could be something like that anyway.

endura engine = development of the fwd version of the X-flow, found in all ford KA's untill a couple of years ago

very similar to the origonal 1976 fiesta engine (but with lots of little changes and efi stuck on)

My Mrs had this problem with an R reg and its somthing wrong with the ECU she had to take it in every so many thousand miles for the garage to reset and it was ok again for another few months

I think it was a problems with cars from that 3 year period

Biggest change IIRC was their re-ordering of the exhaust/inlet valves/ports, so you can't change cam or use aftermarket manifolds from an XFlow.

Had a simular problem on wifes V reg 1.3, I disconected the presure sensor on the power steering pipe, that sorted it, I think it altered the tickover speed when steering to compensate for the extra drag of the PAS pump
