OT - Class C LGV test - passed!!!

Evening all.
Feeling rather pleased with myself and as i have no friends (give us an aaaahhhhh) i thought i'd share this all with you guys (and gals).
I have today passed my LGV class C (old class 2) driving test at the first attempt (well you make damned sure you do when its costing over £900 of my
kitcar fund!!). I am now qualified to drive rigid lorries at 56mph on all our motorways and get in your way on the A-roads!! 
I can feel a celebratory pint or 7 coming on tonight!! Will do Class 1 after the new year so i can drive proper lorries then!!

Can I ask now that you please don't join in the "lorry racing" when a perfectly good dual carriageway or motorway is blocked by one
lorry doing 55.9mph & another doing 56.1 taking about an hour to overtake

Having been stuck behind 2 of them coming home from Nottingham between near Donnington Park and Uttoxeter on the A50 who were determined to drive side
by side for at least 14 or 15 miles, I certainly wont be so selfish!!

Well i found it pretty tough - far harder than my advanced driving test anyway. I did 20 hours practical training over this week having done the
theory / hazard perception test 2 weeks ago.
As well as being taught to physically drive a truck (with a split ratio gearbox - 4 low, 4 high selected via a button on the gearstick), you get
taught to do it safely. This is the toughest bit as its just so different due to the size of the thing at 37ft long and over 8ft 6in wide. Getting
this through a busy town centre isnt easy - mirrors, mirrors and more mirrors as well as knowing exactly which bit of road to use through reading the
road ahead is so much harder than in a car as i'm sure any of the other guys who have done it will tell you!! Great sense of acheivment though
and you really do learn to drive so much better - even in my car i am so much more aware now of whats around me.
Not cheap though at probably somewhere between £800 and £1000 but so glad i've done it. I have a job offer for £500+ per week take home if i get
the next part so it pays for itself (depending on what you earn currently of course)

Well done and welcome to the world of loonngg days and the discovery of TWO
5 o'clocks in the same day.
Not to mention the endless repetition of motorways and the complete ignorance
by car drivers of the way trucks (esp artics) need to use the road
That's why I bailed out after 3 years despite the cost of taking the tests.
Ok, it's not all like that, there are good jobs out there. I just decided it wasn't for me.

Class 1, The bigger the truck the bigger the twat.............based on personal experiances of course.

Well not being one to hang around (except when it comes to building my own Tiger it seems!!), I have just booked lessons and test for Class C+E (to
drive an articulated lorry). 9th January is the big day so just hope DVLA crack on with getting my licence to me pronto.

Cheers mate. Hopefully be able to crack on with my own car once i am back working - i have a job offer subject to getting the licence!!
Then again it looks like i may be completing the build of a Tiger Supercat for someone local to me now - going to see the car this week which is a
rolling chassis with (supposedly) all parts to complete. I have loads of time on my hands at the moment and i wont be getting paid (obviously) for my
time - lots of Tiger parts might find there way to me mind in a couple of months!!!
