He is not a tax dodger, he has just moved to another country which you have to pay less tax lots and lots of rich people do the same thing, thats why most if not all F1 drivers either live in Switzerland, Monaco etc

It's not tax evasion, it's tax avoidance

Its a fact of life!! So would you stay in this country if you were in his position and had to pay 40% of your salary to the bunch of idiots we call the government so they could squander it??

If I won the lottery, i'd certainly be off!!!

You don't get to win at F1 if you're not.

iank - 18/12/07 at 06:07 PM

Can't remember where I read it, but a quote from some wag about touring car drivers.

"If you tell one he's a w*nk*r his team mate will insist he's done himself 3 times that morning already".

For F1 multiple the competitiveness by 2.

If you factor in the revenue that the government will have received from all things Lewis Hamilton, it probably far outweighs the tax on his earnings.

If I had his dosh, I'd be on a plane to somewhere else asap. Not to get away from the 40% tax bracket, but to get away from our crumbling country. In fact, maybe I'll declare myself an illegal imigrant from the czech republic, then they can send me back with enough money to open a small lap dancing bar in Prague.

I thought it was mealy arranging your finances in a tax efficient manner ;-).

Something we are all encouraged to do. Granted we cant all afford the advice nore do we have the means to implement said advice.

Just a thought how about a tax system that encourages more of the top earners to remaine resident as some of a lot is better than a big bit of nothing.

Well if I win the lottery, I'm going to stay here so that the Government can use my tax to buy tanks for our brave lads in the Gulf!
Thinks................"If I had a wooden nose, I could start a timber yard."

t.j. - 18/12/07 at 09:21 PM

you lucky b.... only have to pay 40 %????

just Wait...

Tax on stuff 19,5 %
Tax on Car 42,5 %
Tax on food 6%
Tax on fuel about 165%
Tax on payment for work around max 50 %

Welcome to the nut-house!

Dale - 18/12/07 at 10:02 PM

600 pound fine is not too bad. They just implemented a 50 km/hr over the posted limit here in ontario Canada is considered racing - even if there are no other cars around- 2000-10000 dollar fine a weeks inpound. They have nailed quite a few in even the first day they started it.
May have to put a track/road switch with a speed limiter on it for the sevenish car.

You heard of places like Dewsbury, Beeston, Ravensthorpe?
You should have cos they regularly spawn terrorists.
Well there all within about 10 miles of where I live.
Believe me, in some places, the county is already decimated beyond repair.
