Not a problem,............ until you open a door.
There also used to be a genuine BL built Rover engine Marina, a few years ago.

I would say yes to the V8, bargepole to the Allegro

Why would someone do that to a good engine, it will tear the car in half.

Someone else has found the wonders of R-R

What is that person thinking!! My mum had an alegro. Right heap of crap. I got some crap car trumps for christmas. There is an "austin
all-agro" in there. There picture is of a skip.
What V8 is that???
My first car on the road was one, in just that orange (I added a tasteful black strip). Weakest car I've ever seen, welds would pop going over
country roads. It ended up on top of a drystone wall after a little bit of a skid
tore the suspension pipes off the bottom and had to drive home
with the drive shafts grinding away the inner wings, what a beast...
I miss it though
, very entertaining, nice but deadly.
I had an Allegro when I was 18....... was alright actually, not very exciting to drive (felt much better in the passenger seat - ride quality at lower speeds was outstanding) but not nearly as bad as you're all painting them out to be. As I recall it never broke down, nothing fell/broke off and as long as you kept the suspension pumped up it was happy days - but then mine was one of the very early ones
The very early ones had square steering wheels , was yours that old? They had a nasty habit of popping the screen if jacked up wrong which also made the doors difficult to open
No, if I remember it was made in 1975 so just after the 'quartic' wheel. Was only an 1100 so hardly troubled with excess power.. Put it
this way it was my car in 1984 so it was 9 years old and it was still a pretty solid car.....how many MK3 Escorts from 1984 lasted 9 years.....
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it was a great car, it's just not quite as bad as people remember - at least mine wasn't

Solid Allegros are very very very rare -- my opinion of Allegros was always lower than whale droppings but cutting up something that rare for a stupid project that is unlikely to ever to turn a wheel is just wrong.

Indeed, sticking a V8 in one is a very silly idea

Most Allegro's failed thier 2nd MOT on rust , the first MOT was usually just failed on brakes and suspension.
it will be a shock when it cains you off the lights tho lol.
adam
lol, not really, I'll catch up when we get to a corner or a dual carriage way in my quiet, refined, climate controlled, heated seat equipped
middle aged bloke turbo machine

This might turn out quite a car, look closely and you can see a spaceframe backbone chassis in there, can't tell what from. He's cut out the original shells chassis rails as well. Where did you find the picture donut?
On the 'retro rides' forum apparently if you read the previous posts......and what exactly is a 'spaceframe backbone' chassis............
