Possible tin top

Hi all,
build should be finished in the spring (this one
I hope) and i'm thinking about what to use to
tow to track days etc.
Favourite at the minute is a Toyota Surf. I want
a diesel estate type car for about £2-3k.
Anyone got any views. Any bad points.
Thanks
GeorgeM

Surf's are nasty, to tow with and regularly blow the gaskets, they cost a small fortune to repair aswell as they were never genuine imports.

Nothing four wheel drive unless you like spending mon£y on diesel. A nice Volvo, Audi or Merc estate.

As above, avoid Surfs, probably the worst vehicle on the road to drive, bouncy, cramped etc. Passat / A4 estate would be better choice.

i have a hilux i have towed a caravan to spain with it and had it 15 years from new.
its not very good for towing .its all over the road
the vectra tow a dream and big volvos and the Passat and a4.

thanks for replies,

I know the 2.4 has head problems, I was
thinking of the 3 litre. Volvo and Audi are possibilities. Does
no one have anything good to say about the Surf? I thought
Toyotas, and especially HiLux types were supposed to be
bullet proof.
