I have done a very silly thing...

I have gone and bought a small racing car, eventually it will be ZX9R powered...But thats another story...

The plan origionally was to convert it for road use, but this seems like a bit of a shame, and an expensive process.

The car would be fairly impractical on the roads, but would be AWSOME on the track...


So far as my understanding goes, to attend a normal track day you have to have an MOT (So I would have to SVA the car)...

Are there any informal arive and drive type non competative trackdays that I can just goto and enjoy my car? (Or is the painfull SVA process worth it?)

Having said that, track days are not cheap either....

Iv'e never been asked for an MOT at a trackday, airfield days can be had for £80 ish
You could also compete in sprints and hillclimbs.
Go for it, as you say, it will make a cracking track car especially with bike power.

So long as you are confident its not going to fall to bits at 100+ mph, i dont see a problem

For most track days, the car needs to be of a condition that it would pass an MOT it does not need to have one.

having no number plates might make them check closer though! But if it wont pass scrutiny, its best not to go out anyway.

No, it's fine to have an out-and-out trackday car. That's exactly what mine is. Some organisers are more precious than others. My advice to make it easier.. fit two seats (I appreciate that your bodywork would need to be modified) and fit at least a rear brake light. It's open, so you can wave your arms to allow people passed. I will definately be watchng your progress on the build.

What I'd be doing with that car however, is fitting a 918 blade engine, a full set of lights and be going to try to win Class C of the RGB championship. As you may be guessing, the thought crossed my mind!

Fitting a second seat would be a pain in the backside because the rollbar brace runs through the passenger comparment....not to mention the fact that the passengers feet would become part of the engine...

Its still tempting to fit lights and get it SVAd, but that would involve a lot of suspension work to bring the ride height up, and that would ruin its track day performance IMHO

Given all the potholes on the roads, I think I would break my neck driving that thing on the road...

well mine hasnt got any lights not even a handbrake only problem ive had is noise but thats my own fault
