If my road tax runs out in two weeks time but my MOT runs out in a month can I still tax it or do I need a certain amount of MOT left to get a new 12
month tax disc??!?!?!
Whatcha reckon???
think any amount of mot will do! Try to retax online and see!
As long as you have MOT and insurance on day of taxing. you're fine...
Chris
It could run out the next day and you'll still be able to get tax. As long as you do still have one, that's all that matters.
Excellent! That's the MOT sorted for a year then
BB
Job's a good un!!
So if you MOT your car a couple of days after the tax runs out (keeping it on private land in between time- the DVLA don't send out a fine
immediately) you can just MOT it every two years.....
Doesn't seem to make sense... but it works....
Until you get stopped and asked for an MOT cert......

Whats the fine for forgetting to MOT your car nowadays? .It used to be a trivial amount as far as i remember with no points, so may be cheaper than an
MOT now that mot is £50 plus especially when the car is only used for 6 months of the year, not that i would condone doing such a thing, and with the
present government you probably get locked up for life for it now.
Paul.
eh? can you be fined for not having an up-to-date MOT? I thought as long as your MOT was up-to-date enough to get your a road tax you were okay???
All MOT data is held in Swansea on a big computer, so Police can tell from their Automatic number plate recognision camera's that you dont have
MOT if you drive past them (well on public highway)
The certificate you get now is a Receipt so you can produce if requested.
...and if you have an accident then your insurance is void.

Fair enough!!! Looks like I'll be sticking with PlanA (ie doing the MOT as normal) then.....

Then he was lucky. I know of a few over the years that the insurers have just washed thier hands of.

I've found that not to be true. A mate had a crash and wrote his car off a few weeks back. His MOT ran out the next day
He asked what would have happened if he crashed the next day, and that was their response. They'd still pay out, but at a lesser value. I had too always assumed insurance would be void, but they said otherwise.
I have got the impression that if you have an accident with no mot you would still be covered third party. The insurers could wash themselves of your
car but not any third party claims.
I could be wrong tho.....
