Just about to buy my wheels
and the guy has offered either
Scudo stunner
or
Toyo Proxes 4 (+£25)
Scudo I have never heard of and the
proxes 4 were offered when I asked about Toyo T1S.
Any views or alternative suggestions welcome.
Cheers

The car (when finished) will rarely be on a track.
I tried Proxes on my tintop and they are pants in the wet...
Im now running Yokohama S-Drive.... Cheaper than the proxes if you shop around and really good!
I would imagine on a seven they would be pretty good!....... Seem to wear quite well too!
S-drive is available in:

I'm no expert, but I'd run a mile from the Stupido Stunners, and the t4's may be a tad hard for a 7alike.
T1R/S are a touch hard but warm up when pushed, those are more for a std car I reckon.
Depends on your budget, not just whats being ofered.
If I had a bit spare I'd go for Toyo R888 if just for road use, they should last a while even
The Scudo Stunners give very good grip and were the tyre of choice for hill climbers in the road going classes when I was competing the year before
last.
Cheers

As above - see if you can pay extra and go for R888's
I may stand corrected on the Stunters.
Just googled some use for hillcliming, prehaps they are soft, too soft for a tin top , but could be good for a 7 at that price then?

Tin top has P6000. Great tyre.
Was considering these for the 7 but doesnt
really have the look of an R888 which
I was advised against using going into SVA
as it may prejudice the examiners opinion.
Might have to go with the Toyo.

What size and how much you been quoted for the tyres?
R888's are good on road and track and better than I thought they would be in the wet.
Best place for those IMO is Camskill (www.camskill.co.uk).
T1-S / R's are good road tyres, as are Eagle F1's but as others have said you'll struggle to get them up to temp if your car is very
light.
www.mytyres.co.uk is worth checking for these as is eBay but you'll still got to sort out a local fitter / balancer which can sometimes negate
the bulk of the savings...
I had stunners on the tin top --- wet weather grip was not good.
r888's all the way. sva man loved them.
once warm they are awesome. way better than the p6000's or t1's i've used before.
MNR recommend the r888 and Marc there races his cars on them.........
plus the tread looks the muts
Given the choice of Toyo Proxies or Scudo Stunners I would go for the Scudos purely on the basis of them being used by a number of hillclimbers over
the past year. I believe Toyos are on the same list and I see more runners on Scudos than on Toyo's.
I have past experience of the Toyo's on my tintop and they are a good tyre IMHO on that and I have second hand knowledge of the Toyos on a 7 and
it wasnt favourable.

Thanks for the input guys.
Just checked out the price of R888 - £70 ish.
Looking to put them on either Fox FX2
or OZ Ultraleggera 195x50x15.
A lot of references to warming the tyres up. I might be piddling about too much to get the best out of these.
