Would you ride this?

Mr Whippy - 5/8/08 at 07:21 AM

Why of course with those powerful brakes what would be the problem?

r1_pete - 5/8/08 at 07:24 AM

Not for very far looking at the size of the fuel tank, quite a well executed special, but have to ask why? - because who-ever built it could??

like that and looks well done.May have been worth more left as original chopper, but fun little pit bike

Looks like it's a CG125 engine - so perfectly safe as it was probably faster on pedal power

hmm my CG125 will do 65mph, good luck on that thing

Dangle_kt - 5/8/08 at 08:03 AM

it would be the high speed wobble that you get you I bet!

I remember the bars flapping round going down big hills, let alone an engine!

I still want a go though!

Years ago (B4 any of you were born), I used a Cyclemaster-powered bicyle. This was a complete power unit, which was built into the rear wheel. This particular example had had its engine tuned up, and so the bike could reach 50mph.!!!

Which wasn't so bad - until you touched the brakes !!!! The resultant fore-and-aft vibration was b****y terrifying.

And this was prior to the crash helmet law.

I got a new racing pushbike which I can reach 38mph (digital speedo) just pedalling and I'm already thinking of fitting disk brakes. There's no way those little rubber blocks can dissipate all that energy and heat.

It has a rear drum does it not... ?

I ride a hybrid and down one of our local hills my top speed was logged at 47.8mph on my digital speedo. I know it's not deadly accurate but it's very close and the V brakes did a very good job of pulling me up, there's a lot of area on the aluminium rim to dissipate the heat.

Big Stu - 5/8/08 at 01:32 PM

That's my old chopper that some theving jippo scum bag nicked when I was 10.

hobzy - 5/8/08 at 02:02 PM

Without trying to sound one uppy, got 57 down a big hill in a race once, surrounded by 30 odd big blokes (i was only a junior) bl**dy scary, ran out of gearing and when I had to slam the anchors on for the right hander at the bottom it was all bit hairy smoking blocks etc. I dread to think what that chopper is like at speed... still, I'd give it a go

Here on ebay is another fine example of a powered pushbike.
