Steve....the VAST majority of people I know here are not gun owners...and those that are have them for hunting purposes...
I totally agree they should be harder to get and not an automatic privelige.
Food...erm...I quite like hot dogs and meatloaf, but agree that except for breakfast McDs is pretty shite...
Funny, anyone I know here who says UK food is shite quotes cockles, mussles, tripe, eels, liver, kidney....and I agree IMO those things are REALLY
shite....
I tell them they should try some good old proper English food, like a chicken Tandoori, or a beef vindaloo...
And, as I've said before to anyone visiting Florida my kettle is always on, workshop open, and beer waiting....

OK...now after my defence of the US, now my gripes...
<rant>
Sport....
Other than baseball, which is excellent, the rest is total f*****g rubbish....
Football, a game where your feet virtually never touch the ball...you score touchdowns were you don't actually touch the ball down.....how
anyone can excited about it is totally beyond me...
Basketball...utter garbage...how can anything with a score of 120 v 88 be exciting...there's a basket like every 10 seconds...and if you
aren't 6'8" you have little chance....
Hockey...now it could be my eyes..but how the hell do you see anything happening????
NASCAR.....no please don't get me started on this crap...this racing is for stock cars...is it bollocks.....no cars here have carbs...they are
nearly all OHC FWD V6's NOT pushrod RWD V8's....that's really stock....NOT.......even Toyota are having to design a pushrod V8 just
so they can compete....
</rant>
But yeah, other than that I love it here...
And yes, I acknowledge that F1 is pretty crappy right now too...

Do we believe?
"Do amercans (as I have read many times) REALLY believe that you MUST own a gun, to protect yourself against the over powerful state machine?
Like I can just imagine us in the UK needing guns to get rid of labour cos there are too many speed cameras.... (no - wait a minute....) "
The gun owner that I know, feel that me should have the right to own guns so we hopefully won't NEED to protect ourselves from an opressive
government.
I for one would love to have some recipes for Britt, Scott, Irish foods. (Hint Hint)
If anyone from across the pond wanted to visit my area (semi-touristy), I would be glad to arange a little trip to one of the local public shooting
areas, just so you can see we're not all Rambo/Dirty Harry. I've never shot anything bigger than a Squirrel.
I'm "Mostly Harmless"
Also a stupid question refering to an English movie? In Bend it Like Beckham, the Indian girls Dad works at Heathrow, and wears some sort of uniform.
Any idea what his job was?

Someone wil answer better I'm sure, but I'd guess he was a customs officer or something like that at the airport.
Good movie BTW, I loved it......

look up Yorkshire Pudding - easy to make and a great british delecacy - bit like american 'pigs in a blanket' - but no pigs.
I think that the dad was a customs officer.
The indian girl was cute.
what suprised me was how unhorny her mate was, seeing as she was the BABE in Pirates of the carribean!
I have been to Kenosha, Wisconsin about 8 times (dont bother!)
Newark NJ once
for a day
Denver for a day
Suyracuse for a day
5 trips, once for 3 weeks to LA and Cal.
A week in Las Vegas

AHA! One would THINK!...
But in reality there are numerous mountains dotting the lanscape of Phoenix, there is a significant water table underground (being used faster than it
is replenished unfortunately) and we have world-class skiing just 2 hours to the north where the mountain range peaks out at over 12,600 feet. In
fact... Arizona is one of the few places in the world where you can travel through 5 biomes in less than 2 hours! From Sub-Desert to above the
tree-line.
It's an awesome place to live. Plus there are lots of HOT chicks everywhere! The Fatties tend to live in the Mid-western states. California
and Arizona have lots of good looking people. (How's THAT for steroetyping! hehehehe

I spent a day in LA once on the boulevard of Venice BEach.
I thought id died and gone to heaven.
It was right out of baywatch. Leggy babes just rollerblading around waiting to be discovered. It was totally unreal.
I stayed off muscle beach - just didnt seem fair to humble the regular guys and the girls would have been so dissapointed to know I could only stay
the day....

Try White Castle, now there's some burgers for ya...
20 (yes twenty!) steam cooked beef burgers, 5 bucks.
Been to the other side (of the pond) several times now. Live in BC (ok, so I know thats Canada) for almost a year and then toured the west coast of
the states for about 6 weeks. Was fun. And I have to admit, I did meet some intelligent, pleasant Americans!
Amazing variety in the landscape, crossed the Rockies a couple times, through Death Valley, stopped in Vegas for a bit. Great times. Just a shame it
was a month before I was 21!
Went to Florida as a kid, all I remember is getting told off for sticking my hand in the water when we were in the everglades on one of those air boat
thingies (you, Gentle Ben stylee).
Chicago and Boston I liked as well, Boston more.
What did amuse me though were the tiny hick towns ('scuse the expression). They're great, you're on the road in the middle of
nowhere and you see this sign, InbredsVille, population 15. No kidding. Ok, so the name I invented. Man, how do you live in a place like that??

Yeah we have a few like that near here....
Keenansville, Holopaw and Yeehaw Junction spring to mind...probably 100 population between them...
Speaking of airboats...my local bar (which is pretty good actually...50c draft beers* on Mondays.. ) often has copies of airboat monthly on the bar
to read..
*for 16oz pint rather than a UK 20 oz pint...still VERY cheap though..
