Help with backing up Ipod

I've been lent an Ipod shuffle by a friend for me to use when running.

She doesn't have it backed up anywhere and I want to get her dreadful music off it (being a Shuffle you can't have directories so I can't avoid her stuff).

I already have Itunes on this PC for my girlfirend's Nano. But I'm terrified of connecting the Shuffle to the PC to experiment in case it syncs and I lose the contents of the Shuffle!

I'm pretty sure Itunes won't let me upload from the Shuffle to back it up. But I seem to remember there's 3rd party apps that will.

What should I do?

Thanks!

James

It's been a while since I did this, but I think the program you're looking for is EphPod (pronounced "F-pod".

IIRC, it allows music to be taken off an iPod and copied to the computer, where you'll be able to burn all her favourite tunes to multiple CD's or a DVD or two. Then you can upload whatever you like and sleep safe at night in the knowledge her collection is safe.

Someone else might be able to point you in the direction of something newer/better, as it's been a few years since I last used it - I've gone legit now and run all my music through iTunes from my CD collection, and purchase most of it through the shop.

Gone are the days of Napster!!!!
