O/T bad week
Well, it's just been one of those weeks, and I'm glad tomorrow is Friday (I think).
I moved into my new house about 2.5 weeks ago, and having lived with the rents for a month before that, saved myself a few pennies to spend on new
bits for the house.
So, when it came to moving in, I treated myself to a new washing machine/tumbledryer combo and fridge/freezer with water dispenser. Some may call me
silly for spending money on such trivialities when it could have gone on the car, but my theory is that if I live well, I work well. Good motto to go
by, I feel.
So, the washing machine got installed and is working fine. £320 well spent there. But now the dreaded fridge/freezer. It's a big ol'
bugger at 7ft tall, fridge above and freezer below, and I got it new on sale at Currys for £600 (25% of RRP). But it arrived and the water dispenser
leaked, so I removed it and just had to make do with the basic fridge. Went back into store, and explained the situation. Due to big sale on over
the bank holiday w/e, they couldn't deliver a new unit for at least a fortnight. Annoying, but not much I could do. So I took Tuesday morning
off work and waited for a new unit to be delivered and the faulty one removed; courier turned up and said they couldn't do anything as the unit
had to be defrosted and left off, standing for a minimum 24hrs. How can you defrost a 2 week old frost-free freezer unit? Afternoon wasted. So they
rescheduled delivery for this morning, and lo and behold, they turned up. New unit once again leaks, and is scratched, dented and not in good nick.
So I've got a battl;e on my hands tonight with the manager at the local Currys, as I'm looking for a new, different unit, and some sort of
compensation for the 3 half days I've had to take unpaid off work. Not to mention the general hassle caused.
As if this wasn't bad enough, my new wardrobes (2 units, £150 each) arrived the other day and are marked and damaged too, and have bits missing.
So they've got to go back, and are being collected this Saturday morning.
[Mr. Branson's card company really are getting their moneys worth out of me at the moment!]
Why is this happening to me?!? I thought new house was supposed to bring good luck, new beginning and all that jazz....
Still, suppose I shouldn't complain, the house is still in one piece, standing upright with a roof that doesn't leak!

Houses bring more problems than anything else in life - there is always a list of things that need fixing with varying degrees of urgency.
Just take heart in the fact that your current problems appear to be one's you can shovel straight back onto the places you bought the goods
from. Yes it's still stressful, but at least you won't have to foot the bill as well!

I had similar experience with Currys, with a Samsung Fridge Freezer with damaged doors.
Got fed up with Currys and went straight to the manufacturer - two new doors were fitted within 7 days - I wouls speak to the manufacturer they carry
the warranty.
Currys have internal arguments between retail and warehousing and neither will step up and pay each blaming the other.

Yes, it's superstition.

To be fair, in the bigger scheme of things, the issues you have had are pretty minor issues!
Ask Jasper about a slightly more major problem!
Keith Flyyooodd and Pat Swarkoski have also had slightly worse weeks than you!
You only live once - make the most of it!
