iirc i put my avatar pic in my archive then cut and paste the link into my control panel avatar area.
I seem to recall there are a couple of how to posts too somewhere. Might be worth an ickle search.

Resize pic to 150px wide
Upload to your photo archive on here
Open the pic
Right click and select properites
Copy the url (highlight and press ctrl and c)
Go to your control panel on here (link in top right)
Go to edit profile
Paste (ctrl and v) the url you copied into the avatar url box
Job done

into the box in control panel called avatar url, and it should work.
problem at the min is that it says a bit of it twice:

think this needs to be updated a bit, and put as a sticky to the computer/site problem forum, or
somewhere else more obvious
i'm not getting at anyone here, but the same sort of questions always come up, avatars, inserting photos into posts, more than 1 photo in each
post etc
might be useful for the help to be updated and promoted a bit more

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

One of the bike forums I'm a member of has a 'How to post pictures' sticky that is now over 5 pages long!
The trouble always is that the people who know how to do it always seem to struggle to put it in simple enough non-tech language so that computer
numpties like me can understand!
