I was at an Industry Inovation Conference today and we had a presentation by a high ranking Senior Met Police Officier who is leading the Met ANPR
project and the integration of the processes. Some very interesting discussions on cloned cars and Croydon Poles.
Impressive stuff and very clever methodologies.

I don't blame some people... My insurance has gone from £850 (on a £200 car) to £500 in 12 years. I've been forced to pay several times
the car's value at times, and I even had one where the theft excess was 5 times more than the car was worth!
Note it's the only insurance that's obligatory too.. They should make it optional, but if you're in an accident with no insurance
you're liable to pay for the repairs cash. This way having insurance might be useful rather than a tax.

wouldnt work at all! Loads of people would chance it and a lot of the time wouldnt be able to afford the crash damage.

insudrance isn't just for your car, it is to pay for the damgae you casue to other cars.
presumably the computer has worked out that drivers of cheap cars are more likley to carsh into very expensive cars.

Your more likely to be in a crash in an old car than a new one because, 1, your less likely to care about damaging your car and 2, theres more chance
your car will have less capable brakes and the like so mechanical faliure is more likely.
Making insurance optional wouldn't work and would probably make it more expensive. You'd just be in the same position as now when an
uninsured driver hit you, you go to court, they're ordered to pay damages, they're unemployed unterproles with no money so the whole
process is just a waste of time and money that you will have payed directly or otherwise. I know people who've had it happen.
The real crime is medical expensis, People shouldn't be able to claim for them as they should be payed for through national insurance.

Oh yeah forgot to add that payment can be made in body parts
No seriously make not paying damages a far bigger offence than not having the insurance. You can risk it but if you don't have the 12 grand to
back it up you're going to jail
