Take kids swimming

I pay for private lessons at local leisure centre. Just joined their gm so get free swimming. Kids also have a card for free swimming courtesy of local council. As a resuly ive taken kids swimming several times on a Sunday morning for the sum total of nowt. Anyone else get the same?

Its amazing how fast their swimming is improving as a result. I cant keep up with my 7 yr old
Seeing my 4 years old swimming under water without arm bands today was quite an event.

we take oscar to the council place since we cancelled our gym memberships. He went first at 4 weeks and now goes to classes - it'll will be a while til he gets arm bands, never mind til he's swimming without them!

Got the council swiiming cards for my 3 kids so just pay for me/SWMBO - good weekend time filler and as you say great to watch them progress with it.

Not sure how long the free swimming thing will last once the government start in earnest on their money saving measures though

Its free swimming till 18 then from 65 isnt it????? Must rip off the posters for proof in case they try and stop it

Like all things - take advantage while you can. Kids even get free dinners around here and they are good quality too.

When we all go swimming it only costs for my wife. And i can even go for a sauna, steam room and jacuzzi pamper hour for nowt.

It's been crap since kids started going free, my local's filled with kids running around and screaming with no parents in sight now

Some areas are doing the <18 >65 for free deals some aren't. Gateshead are Northumberland aren't for example.

My eight year old is now really really good after lessons. He treats every length as a gold medal opportunity and goes flying down the pool faster than I have ever or will ever go. Can even do 30m of butterfly which is insanely hard.

When I was a kid my dad ran the Scottish scuba diving club so not surprisingly I was swimming very early on. I mind crawling along the bottom of the swimming pool with the scuba gear on as I was too small to actually swim with it as it was too heavy for me It’s quite amazing how many adults can’t swim.

Ask at your local council owned/operated pool. You'll have to fill in a form and IIRC show a birth certificate for each child.
