Finding a truck silencer
The silencer/back box/whatever it's called on my TK is old and v.rusty. I want a replacement but don't care if it's an original
bedford part or reproduction (i.e. expensive). Is there anywhere I can search for silencers by size (i.e. pipe ext. diameter 2 1/4" )
There's so much room where it mounts that it wouldn't matter if it was slightly bigger than standard. Any idea of modern 7.5 tonners that
I can look into to see if their silencers would fit?
I tried a couple of local exhaust places but they can only fit them, not supply. (Undoing 3 nuts is obviously VERY dangerous)

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Forget about the rear silencer, just stick a 90 deg bend and go side exhaust

Is it a 6 cylinder turbo? if so go for no slincer and side exit. would sound nice.
2 1/4 is what some chavvy stainless systems are.
Daf 45 ones are quite good and big but im sure the pipes are 2 1/2 or 3 inch. Look in yellow pages for commercial vehicle parts factors. You may
find the likes of part co or jayar etc might do some truck stuff.

thanks for the help, will look into it tomorrow. It's 6 cylinder n/a. Without the silencer it sounds awesome but just too loud
Diesel cars sound lame, but BIG diesel engines... awesome, really awesome.

A long tiime ago I worked at Vauxhall and they built a TK with the 2 stroke V8 supercharged Detroit diesel! That was a truck.
Phoned the local ramblers club today, but the bloke who answered just
went on and on.

2 stroke supercharged V8? *drools*
I could always swap the 330 for a 500 turbo No idea what they'd be like on fuel but i'm guessing around 10mpg. Our 330 gets 19mpg on
the motorways

Is truck exhausts what you work on then? Wasn't sure... I've kept the original silcencer though, would like to get another one made up
identical to it some day ^_^

There's a truck and automotive spares supplier across from us here in Clay Cross called Minorfern and they carry a vast assortment of exhausts
for commercial vehicles.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.
