How to avoid Royal Fail
At least they are doing something to counter the effects of Royal Fail
eBay bosses seek help from Parcel2Go.com
eBay bosses have been consulting Parcel2Go.com to ensure that eBay sellers can continue trading through the postal dispute.
Mark Lewis, managing director for eBay in the UK, said: “Some 120,000 businesses are currently registered and making a living on eBay.co.uk.
“While they work with a variety of postal suppliers, many rely on Royal Mail for their deliveries and are understandably concerned that further postal
strikes will continue to cause huge disruption at a time when they can least afford it.
“Our businesses tell us that Christmas typically accounts for a fifth of their annual sales and despite the tough economic conditions, they’re
successfully growing their businesses and investing for future growth. In fact, our sellers have already seen buyers hunting for pre-Christmas
bargains with tinsel sales up 65% and Christmas tree sales up 112%.”
Parcel2Go.com business development director Richard Adams-Mercer said his firm was delighted to be assisting the auction website.
“eBay wants to ensure that its sellers can provide the levels of service that are critical in the run-up to Christmas so we’ve stepped in to help.
“eBay is advising users of alternative shipping options including Parcel2Go.com and recommending that buyers choose sellers who can post using
carriers that are not affected by the industrial action,” he added.
eBay sellers are advised to mitigate the impact of postal strikes by offering the new delivery options and stating this in listing descriptions for
the duration of the industrial action.
Following the strike vote by Royal Mail workers, eBay.co.uk has also decided to remove the option for buyers to rate sellers on the time they take to
send an item. The temporary move will be implemented for the duration of the strike period and for a period after.
This action was agreed as a way of supporting eBay sellers as their status and discounts on eBay.co.uk are wholly dependent upon their Detailed Seller
Ratings (DSRs) – of which Dispatch Time is one such criterion.

After a few uses of parcel2go and the excellent service they offer I don't think I will be returning Royal Mail in any hurry.
I think many sellers will be doing the same, another nail for RM's Coffin.

by going on strike royal mail is forcing there customers to try someone else. when theres people like parcel2go and many others offering a good
service... i dont think many will return.

The fact that they have chose to fook us all around at christmas run up is some thing a lot will not forget.
Parcel to go is really a dhl domestic front in the form of a virtual company(dont own any vans ect)
The posties do have a point but I think they are going to get shafted this time.....
At least the amount of junk mail will be reduced for a long time

I'm more concerned that I'm just starting up a new business after being out of work for a long time and my client cannot begin paying me
until all the paperwork has flown around to get the company bank account and insurances set up - can't set up the insurance until the bank
account is useable, can't get the bank account details without post, grrrr 
After that it's all going to done electronically, no post involved at all 
I used to be self-employed some time ago and during a previous postal strike, thousands of businesses working through my accountants switched from
receiving financial statements every week by post to receiving them online - so all the strikers did was permanently deprive themselves of future
work. I'm sure the decline will only be accelerated by this strike.

Successive governments are having a pretty good go at running the Royal Mail into the ground.
In the name of competition the Royal Mail is burdened with delivering mountains of junk mail for other postal providers at less than cost price.
As result it looses money.
Because it is losing money it is under pressure to cut corners and the employees are under pressure and under paid,
This makes working for Royal Mail less than desirable so the best staff leave or take voluntary redundancy and new employees are not exactly the
pick of the crop often can barely speak or write English and many have been found to be less than honest.

DON'T PANIC!
I've just called the 24 Hr job line, left my details, tommorrow I'll hopefully find out where the temp. jobs are in the area and have a
date/time to start.
I'll deliver/sort your mail/whatever, or at least try my damn hardest to do it. Out of work now for almost a year, it'll be FANTASTIC to
have the opportunity of a job (albeit only so temporary).. **really looking forward to it**
