Thanks for the ref. Have just lost sound on wife's laptop (Realtek HD speakers, built-in on Medion L/T). Running Vista Home Premium o/s.
All system checks indicate they are working OK. But no sound emerges. Any ideas???

Laptop Sound Loss
Found a solution via the 'Net.
1: Type "Start", then "Run",
2: enter "devmgmnt.msc",
3: Select the Realtek driver,
4: Follow the installation Wizard instructions.
Best of Luck!!
