I'm a bit sceptical. A Cat by definition is a car for fun. It's never going to be green (considering even just the energy used in manafacturing the thing) even if you do polute the environment via coal powered power station rather than out the exhaust of a petrol engine. There are good reasons to go electric (loads of low down power so potentially good acceleration) but it would need in all likelyhood to be concentrating on hydrogen fuel cell technology rather than big heavy batteries (which are hardly going to improve handling).
It's like putting a funfair next to death row and saying people having lethal injection is okay because they get to go on a rollercoaster first. Well, kind of
