Doesn't winter modding get you depressed?

Doesn't winter modding get you depressed? that is the question,

i spent all of the weekend in the garage preparing my car for its winter mods and i got so depressed, all that hard work that i'd put in is to be undone!

as my engine rebuild is almost finished, just waiting on a couple of pulleys i started dismantling the car. here are some pictures.

diff if coming out for inspection and investigation of diff whine, i also think the cv gaiter has split as the offside rear spring was coated in cv grease and so was the underside of the wheel arch. hopefully a new dash going in as well.

car is looking sad on those axle stands but hopefully there will be some new carbon side panels and engine bay bulk head panels going on

almost rebuilt engine waiting on pulleys and i nice set of Magnecor HT leads abd the gearbox out for cleaning and inspection

don't know why its in bold cuz i haven't told it to write in bold, lol

sigh

I dunno... I think the car looks quite happy on it's stands - probably enjoying the rest!

Work at the local Hospital, So working in the garage is my 'release' from some of the things i see

Anyway these cars that we love driving are never finished, they evolve

I do a list and pin it up in the garage and then just tick the jobs off as i go...

I write a long list of "to do" jobs at the beginning of winter and then when the sun comes out again in May I look at the list, realise I haven't done any of them, fire up the car and go for a blat

I'm currently converting to a full windscreen at the moment - and starting to realise that it's not a trivial job...

...and then I've got to give it its annual service and check-over.

It does mean you can get a decent Sunday morning blat with the minimum of blue rinse...

Speaking as one who seems to spend his summers fixing the car & autumn/winter driving it...

My list this winter is pretty big, i need to get started!

  1. Replace front section chassis - probably going to design and build a bolt on front bulkhead that houses alll suspension pickups
  2. New body work - prep, fit and paint
  3. some new ali panel work
  4. full strip and check over of all components
  5. new fluids all round
  6. suspension refresh - maybe new shocks and springs and incorperate ARB

plus lots more!! So don't worry you are not on your own!!

crisp air, I don't have to sweat buckets whilst in the workshop, beard & long hair become useful, I like running in winter, fires, countryside looks awesome. Basically summer is too hot, I think I'd be more suited in norway/sweden/finland. Maybe i have ancestors there, I'm told I look like a viking, listen to black metal and love volvos

I do like hot weather but only if very dry so sweating actually works, in the uk it's often humid and and eugh

I find the prospect of not having a car to play with this winter totally depressing!

The temptation to start a build is unreal.
