Tintop radio on the blink again
A few months ago (and about a year before that) my radio shut down and refused to switch on. According to the good folk at Warrington Car Audio
it's due to an electrical spike or something and the way to remedy it is to disconnect the battery for a few minutes and then re-enter the code
(which I have)
My worry though it the factory alarm, how long can I keep the power off for before that screws up and I can't drive it?

Rather than disconnecting the battery, why not disconnect power to the radio? You would have to remove a few things to get at the cable, but then you
would have no problem with the alarm

You know that's a darn good point, surely pulling a fuse would suffice? Tis a bit of a PITA to get to the fusebox and remove those new-style
fiddly little fuses but far easier than pushing 1.7t of Mondeo to the garage!

I dont think the alarm should be too much of a problem. Surely the alarm would be ok in the event of a flat battery?
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?
