Replacement under warranty or recall or my tough luck??

OK, my wife has a Citroen Pluriel. The roof leaks. These were recalled by Citroen for different seals. Ours was never done and is well out of warranty. I have approached our local dealer who says we will have to pay for the work to be done. Is this so? these are not replacement parts the same as ones that failed but modified parts as the originals were badly designed.

No jokes please about French cars, Citroens, 2CVs, or 'Pluriel - it even sounds like rain'!!

mmm pleurisy

erm, if it wasn't done at the time of the recall, and well out of warranty now, then you won't get them replaced for free or anything. you'll have to pay them for the work, or buy the new seals yourself and do it
you (or the previous owner) had the chance at the time tbh

Annoying. The previous owner told me the seal mods had been done, photos on the net show me they have not and ours are the originals.

hmm, when did you get the car? if fairly recently, maybe go and have a 'wrod' with the previous owner?
how much are door seals?

Might be worth checking... I would have thought that something that needs replacing under a recall needs replacing, regardless of when the recall was made.

... or maybe only for safety recalls. I just Googled and found this - doesn't mention door seals

Surely an easy task for you to sort though? There’s plenty of company’s on the web that sell seals by the metre for a few quid

Owned it quite some time, but water deep enough to paddle in has only just started. Before that it was damp seats only. Ho hum...

I would speak to Citroen customer service, if it's a known problem which has been recalled, they may well agree to do it or at least supply the parts as a "goodwill" gesture - got to be worth a try.
I used to work in Customer Service for Fords many years ago - a great deal has to do with how loud you kick, scream & threaten!

I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours. http://shop.ebay.co.uk/furoreproducts/m.html?_dmd=1&_ipg=50&_sop=12&_rdc=1

i thought you only had a certain time limit to do it. eg, i couldn't get away with taking my 1995 BMW back to BMW now and ask for a new engine for the nikasil ones they replaced in the 90s.
don't know if mine was actually affected, or if it was replaced, but you know what i mean, they wouldn't do it now

Humm sounds like it's not fit for purpose, I think you might be able to argue that they should sort it??

As above... how old is the car?

If its less than 6 years and is leaking then i would be pushing that its not fit for purpose...

I have a 9 year old polo... the pedal boxes were subject to a recall 5 years ago... my origional one only just failed and VW happily replaced it for me FOC!

Just been onto Citroen UK, who have pointed me to the local dealer (and told me there is an oustanding tyre recall......) so need to see them, Citroen saying it should not be like that and was unacceptable! They are saying the right words but action may be a different matter.

Cheers all.

A bit of hope for you. A car I bought missed a recall and when I went to the dealer to buy some parts for it, they noticed it hadn't had the recall so booked it in, didn't cost me a penny. The only difference would be, it was for a part of the fuel system so may have been a safety concern.

The car was at least 2 years out of warranty when this happened.

cheers

The fact that Citroen initiated a recall is an admission that in its original form, the car was not fit for purpose and the recall work was necessary to rectify that.

With a deal of shoutings and pesterings, I should think you have a 'watertight' case

Fords must have got some training then cos even throwing (and quoting) the sale of goods act got me nowhere.
True if it is a recall they must be able to at least incur some of the cost surely, even if only the cost of the seals?
