Tin top laguna 2 help

Just picked up a 1.9 dci laguna 2 ,owner said turbo had failed .I removed the turbo intake pipe turbine turns freely with no play in the shaft and no visible damage to the turbine.

The engine starts first turn and idles as it should and no smoke from the exhaust. The engine wont rev over 2000 rpm at full throttle and i cant hear the turbo spool up.There is no warning light on to indicate a fault any ideas.

Check the wastegate actiator system... At a guess the compressed air is not getting into the engine and is being recirculated instead....

Check the EGR valve. Some Renaults can get so coked up it can block the air flow.

It will be as above it wikk all gunged and choked up.

But -- it is forewarning of impending turbo doom, the same stuff is getting into the turbo.

Renault Dci's are hyper critical of the oil used if from new if they don't get fully synthetic changed at least twice as frequently as the Renault service interval --- eventually they let go in a big way.

Laguna 1.9Dci? Good luck is all I can say. I sold mine with a years warranty left on it as I had had enough of it! 1 year of ownership, 9 weeks off the road in total.

Failed drivers window (fell down), failed front suspension (shredded 2 tyres), failed rear window glass (estate) and rear wiper mechanism, failed clutch, failed turbo, and PAS that randomly pulled to the left quite violently.

You may have a good one though... Good luck. Nice spec, went very well but I'll never own another one if I can help it!

Ed.

As Above good luck! had noting but trouble with mine although it was was petrol, when it was on the road it was a nice car to drive just couldn't trust it so it had to go!

Brake callipers seized, rear wheel bearings gone (you have to replace the discs and wheel bearings) both front coil springs failed lucky for me at low speed! rear coil spring, coil packed up, various electrical faults inc the usual keypad not working

my advice would be if you've brought it cheep and can sort it out get rid asap or you will regret it!

P.S if you trade it in on another car dont expect allot for it, i found most traders wont touch them with a barge pole
