Bloody Helll...
Crikey, that has to have been the worst 48 hours of my life (so far!).
Back / leg pain was way up at 10, so (stupidly) threw caution to the wind and took more than the prescribed amount of OxyCodone... big mistake!
Did nothing to change my pain levels, but put me into a horrendous dream like state complete with splitting headache, sweats and projectile
vomiting!
Just returning to some semblance of normality now! Lesson learned!

Shame really as the Oxycodone was working (to a degree), but I'm continually needing to up the dose... that little experience yesterday has
shown me where it's all leading to and has put me right off using opiates!
Oh well, back to the drawing board!
Getting a Steroid Epidural in a fortnight... that sounds nice!

Had a number of discs herniate years ago and it was never diagnosed (big bone of contention)... they sat centrally on the spinal canal and over time
have damaged the spinal nerve and sciatic nerve. Past the stage of invasive intervention... treat the pain ad get on with it is the name of the game
now!

Sorry to hear you're in pain. I can fully sympathise - I have a mate with
this, who has had to take some pretty
hair-raising stuff.
Hope you feel a bit better as the weather warms up a bit. Good time to think about what your plans for the summer?

I had 2 herniated discs last year, and was offered paravertebral steroid injections. Back on my feet within 2 weeks.
I also found that Pregabalin (Lyrica) was the best drug to alleviate the pain as it targets nerve pain whereas most opiate based ones appear to target
muscle pain (in my experience).
Get the right drugs and the right treatment and you'll be better in no time.

scootz, Do not under any circumstances take more than the recommended levels.
If what has been prescribed is not cutting it, get your GP to send you to a pain clinic, if your local hospital runs one.
They will give you a cocktail of lower doses that work better that a large dose of one drug.
At one stage, I was taking a cocktail of 2 grams of Paracetamol, 300mg of Gabapentin and 200mg of Tramadol four times a day, with 10cc of Oramorph
four times a day in between the tablets.
Not good.

Cheers guys... I'm prescribed Lyrica as well (still waiting to build up to the max dosage).
I have the pain clinic shortly, so will tell them what I've been up to and my general reluctance to continue with Oxycodone.

sounds like what I had done 2 years ago. Didn't work for me. Then I had a facet root nerve one which did make a difference the first
time but not the second so now back waiting for results of my second MRI scan with a view to poss surgery Or pain management clinic. It's
dragged on for nearly 3 years now so hopefully they get round to sorting it out ASAP
If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.

Had a ruptured disk in my neck due to degeneration exacerbated by playing front row rugby.
this was just as I was about to buy the MK kit, thought I would never be normal again with the pain it caused me in my hand and arm, so postponed
it.
Fortunaltly it got better after about 4-5 months, but I can empathise with the relentless pain, hope you get sorted soon

i woke up when i was having my stem cell mobilisation treatment (horrendously painful bone!!) and took a handful of those on an empty stomach.
Pretty unpleasant 12 hours followed.

My back degeneration hasn't progressed as bad or quickly as yours has, but I've been in some decent amounts of pain over the last couple
years. Have only had one bad episode in last 6 months though, so feel very lucky!
I only ever take strong pain killers when I can't take it anymore as I run the risk of it spiking which means no walking for a couple days...
I've already had the steroids injected into my spine, quite a horrible experience when they explain why they have to do it under xray
I once took drugs from a girl at work (i know, I know) which were mostly morphine and as above on an empty stomach, it was same scenario as you, such
a horrible feeling, like worst hangover ever times ten!
They won't operate on me either, so I've been through the pain clinic route, and the outcome was such a disappointment...

I had a back operation in 1988 to remove two prolapsed discs. I had several hydrocortozone epidurals and manipulation under general anaesthetic prior
to this which didn't help much. Ended up being disabled out of the Navy. Only thing that has kept me going since is Chiropractors....I see one
every 6 weeks or so and it keeps me going.
I also became reliant on pain meds which I had to stop in the end...they aren't good for you.
Good luck with your problems, I hope it works out.

Disc Hernias and X-stop.
Scootz,
Mid November I had two discs, well actually three Herniated, but two of them well beyond the scope of painkillers, I had to undergone minimum invasive
surgical removal of the two most damaged, and a couple of x-stop spacers installed between L3-L4 and L4-L5, I walked the day after the operation and
several days afterwards, but a weird rejection reaction has given me a few weeks of epidural infusions, lyrica (Pregabaline) Codeine, Tramadol,
steroids and the like....
Except for the reaction, I would sugest you review pros and cons of the
operation...
