left you a voice message saying this ....
had a chat with the office land rover expert.
range rover / defender / discovery / satanda (i don't know, i can't read my note) all use the same box with variations. Its the LT230.
It weighs about 8 to 12 kg.
the difference between the boxes is either the gear in side or the flange PCD. The boxes in a range are all identical - eg all range rover boxes
irrespective if they're diesel / manual / auto / petrol are all the same and interchangable.

I'd guessed around 30kg based purely on size and contents, but wondered if anyone had an accurate figure? I think 20 is the most likely
suggestion so far... As long as it's less than 40ish then I'll be happy

From having wrestled one out the Disco when our diff lock got stuck last year I would reckon in the 30kg range.
I would be surprised if it was as much as 40kg.
Are you knocking up a special proj. cos there were some nice transfer boxes attached the rear of BMW gearboxes on the board recently - sorry cant
remember where though.

Deffo not 60kg, more like 30kg, i shift these around by hand enough to know they are not 'that' heavy.

Just sent one to the Scrappy with the main gearbox - nothing wrong with it either.
