fixed dial sim cards
Does anyone know how this works?
I need to get a vodafone sim that will retain the original number but only allow dialing to a handfull of predetermined numbers.
I dont really want to do it the other way round where you block certain numbers, i.e you need to input them into the phone as barred numbers, i just
want to allow dialing of predetermined numbers.
I also want to disable web browsing from the handset, is that a handset thing or a sim card thing?
Its a vodafone contracted sim at present, £13 odd quid a month with 200 minutes and unlimited texts at present and my partners daughter managed to
rack up £245 this month.
She nearly ripped her a new arsehole last night and i want to stop that happeneing again!

I'd just get one of the O2 PAYG sims where you get unlimited calls if you top up £15 a month. That would sure stop her spending that much money

the way it works on 3 pay monthly is that you ring them and they cap the sim to the plan your on so even though a bank account is linked to it for
the direct debit each month once they use the allowance thats it!
We got one for our son. unlimited texts, 300 cross network minutes and unlimited internet for £15.
I'm sure othe providers will have the same type of deal/capping policy?

Dunno about the others but T Mobile do the UFix contract where your monthly charge covers set numbers of texts / minutes and when
they're gone, they're gone but you can then top up by buying extra credit much the same as PAYG

I think I'm too tight to have children! Don't think I'd be shelling out for my sprogs to have mobiles except for use in an
emergency!

Teenagers and contract deals don't mix! - my stepkids half sister (who lives with their/her dad - complicated to explain that one lol) ran up a
monthly bill of just under £800 a few months back!! Me and the Mrs laughed our whatsits off when we heard - but it shows what teenagers can/will
do!
PAYG only round here - yes there is the argument that they can't phone you in an emergency (although generations of children managed quite well
without mobile phones so.......) but if they had a phone that only dialled certain numbers what are the odds on them being bothered to carry it around
anyway!

I've just got a Tesco PAYG sim card and they seem to have a system where you can 'ping me a pound' i.e. send a pound's worth
of credit to anybody else on the Tesco network.
Not sure exactly how it works but it does say that it's 'reassuring for parents', so may be worth a look....?

I remember my mum driving me round to the nearest cash machine when I managed to rack up a £170 bill.
Was worth it to keep two girls on the go... oh to be 16 again

My step-daughter is on a contract and always goes over, up till now we've held a pot of money given to her for university by various relations,
so we just take the money out of that!
I didn't realise you could cap contracts, so I just phoned 3 and now she can only spend £15 a month, if she tries to go over she has to phone up
and pay for a top-up. Texts are unlimited, so she can always get hold of us.
Heeehah - that's gonna p*ss her off

O2 do a Family bolt on that allows up to 5 users.
The main bill is paid by the "owner" of the contract and the other 4 users operate as pay as you go BUT the other 4 users can call any of
the 5 family members FREE even if they have no credit. Ideal if they need to contact a "family" member urgently.
My lad is only 10 at the mo so no phone but this is what he will get when he starts secondary school.

So bad ????? You want me to list what she's been up to over the last 12 months Very mild in comparison I can assure you.
Actually, I don't think she will be that bothered, as long as she can text then she's happy.
Anyway, we're off to Goa tomorrow and leaving her with a grandparent, she asked me when we booked it 'What do you need a break
from?' 'You' I answered, she didn't say much to that

lol, Steve I feel you pain almost exactly.... even down to the new one due in a couple of months - evil 13 year old chav stepdaughter is coming round
to see her mother on Saturday however and I will definitely be out for the day..... I'm a nice guy BUT it only goes so far......

You can port the number, no need to be trapped to a single supplier anymore.
Step Daughter is on T-mobile, costs £20 a month unlimited text and internet + quite a few hours of talk time, which when its exceeded phone stops
working. She can dip in her pocket to top up if required.
