Radiator sizing

When I was having my hallway replastered I took off the radiator so he could do a good/easy job. Left it propped against the wall of my house for an hour or so (4-5m from the pavement in a quiet cul-de-sac) and some thieving scrapman decided to take it away without asking.

So I need to buy another one to finish the job. But I'm coming up with a blank on how they are sized. The distance between the outside faces of the taps is 135cm, but the only radiators it seems possible to purchase from regular diy places are either 1200mm or 1400mm.

Can anyone confirm whether that measurement is across the outlets or the panel? I can't seem to find any good drawings on the web that make it clear.
Taking up 15cm with those extendible valves seems too far.

Don't really want to spend £100 on a plumber draining the system and moving a pipe a few cm.
Any other DIY solutions?

Find your local plumbcentre... their catalogue has about 100 different sized radiators in there...

Failing that... get a radiator that is slightly too short, and extend the pipe connections using compression fit gubbins from homebase

you will need a 1300mm rad from some where i know the merchants i use does not have that sixe at all any more, although others may. if you cant get one but a 1200mm and get some rad valve extenders these come in lots of different sizes.

Plenty of 1300mm radiators available if you search Google / eBay.

Or you can use a 1200 and do something like this: http://www.letsfixit.co.uk/html/plumbing_faq.html#1200MM_RAD

Excellent suggestion, plumbcentre had a Myson 1352mm long, bit of a squeeze getting the tails into the valves but it's on and seems water tight at the moment (hate plumbing!)
