maybe we should all send in a couple of the letter stating why we aren't going to pay and see what happens.

All very well if your well up on statute and legal stuff but, is it, really, for us?

If its true and and as easy as it looks in that article then why isn't 'Jim' making good money getting all council tax scrapped?

I'm sure there's lots of laws on all sorts of things in this country that are ill conceived and full of holes.

Anyone on here care to take on their local council to the same tune??

And, when I click the TPUC and thinkfree links on that page I get 404's on both....

I read up on the freeman concept a few weeks ago, linked from aother forum i go on.

Having done considerable reading on the subject i see little practical application for freeman concept.

For those that dont have time to watch the hour long video and read lots of stuff about the magna carta, I'll give you my take on it - which might be incorrect.

The framework our society operates in is governened by laws and statutes, laws are "common law" which is basically that you can't defraud or harm another person - it is basically a summery of all the stuff that everyone natural conscience "knows" is wrong, theft, murder, rape etc.

Statues are a creation of legal agreements or contracts between the ruling powers and the people - basically anything that is an "ACT" is a statue, and is enforced as if it is law.

The point is that a statue (legal agreement) is made between the state and another legal entity, by mutual concent. The freeman concept argues that mutual concent is not sort, and that a statute can only be enforced if both parties agree to "stand under" it. Effectivly they say that at birth your parents sign you over to the state when they register your birth ( if you read your birth certificate and are able to understand the jargon and legal language it is true, the kids become the states), however this is not concent.

Also becuase the agreement is between two legal entities, then a human being is not covered by it, only the PERSON (which is a made up legal fictional entity that enters into the agreements on the human being behalf) - to illistrate, Joe of the family Bloggs is the physical person, MR JOE BLOGGS is the fictional legal entity which enters into a contract with the government to be governed by the statues laid down in law.

So, doing something that breaks a statue is ILLEGAL, not UNLAWFUL - however the conspirisay theroists out there try to make out that everything has been blurred, and that things are represented at unlawful when they are actually just illegal - and are only actually illegal if you agree to entre into the agreement with the state that you agree with that particular statute.

Now - the thing with statutes is that protect and well as limit freedom, so you can't opt out of council tax for example, but expect the fire brigade to put your home out when it goes up like a torch - you are either in or out. The problem comes when people try to mix the freeman concept with being a smart arse/ cost avoiding exercise. They wont pay their TV licence as it is an unlawful tax that they don;t agree with - however they fully agree with watching TV....

It is hypocrytical to opt out of the bad stuff, but opt into the good stuff that comes from society.

If you are happy to live like a hermit, to not have a driving licence, free healthcare, access to credit facilities, use a passport etc. then great - go live on a small holding and be a FREEMAN, bypassing all statue and governed only by natural or common law - but if you are like the rest of the people in the UK then take the rough with the smooth and stop trying to dodge the downsides of the upsides.
