Ello everyone! Newbie here

Hi everyone,

Thought I'd start building up my post counter with an introduction!

I've been reading this forum for about 4 years now, and know for a fact that I have registered before, but as I can't for the life of me remember the email address or username (let alone the password!) I thought I'd register again. I'd hardly posted anyway.

It's an absolutely fabulous bank of knowledge, so I thought it only right to contribute straight from joining.

I'm hoping to start building a Haynes roadster in the next 3-4 months, as I'm planning on designing a car from scratch over the next 2 years or so, and this would be a good step (I've built up enough road cars and designed a few suspension and engine bits here and there but this will be a first ground-up build). I'm hoping to keep it really cheap, and use Sierra running gear, but with a SR20DET engine/gearbox (more due to the fact that I know these engines very well, rather than the power benefit).

Step one is to get my 1964 Land rover in usable condition, as I'm sure it'll be rather useful for carrying all the random bits.

I've only got a single garage (and a rather tight one at that), so no luxuries like those that have double garages and mills/lathes etc. But it does have power and light so that's a big step up from my previous one

I'm hoping I'll be able to contribute something with my own knowledge, but as there's so many clever anoraks on here it may be a while

Hope to catch a kit car show (my first) sometime in the next few months!

Cheers,

Pavel

Welcome to Locostbuilders. As you said, lots of knowledge on here all willing to be shared!!!! Stoneleighs in a couple of weeks, might be worth you heading there. Will meet lots of great people and different manufacturers. Are you going to build from scratch or get a kit or get chassis kit etc..?

I was thinking of going for the ebay flat-pack chassis kit, as I've heard good things about the quality (and the seller).

However, ideally I'd like to get the steel in lengths for peanuts (off-cuts), and cut it from scratch. But if I had to buy the steel from a supplier in lengths, I think it would be worth just going for the flat pack kit!

Stoneleigh is only bout 30 miles from here so it may be worth it indeed to go and check it out.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

yep, light and power is a nice upgrade from monster spiders, weeds growing out of the walls, and a lot of asbestos.

Blake.. D'oh!! Pavs is spot on! Shame I couldn't have asked that earlier before registering!
