Streetfighters
Any one here into streetfighter style bikes?
In the process of building one up and need some ideas. Joined up to a few sites but cant seem to find a good uk based one.
Im using a zx10 1988.
Got it all stripped of at min. Need ideas for the tail end. I have a tail end of a yzf750. i like it but not sure if it goes.
Also any one local good with a TIG. need some ali mounts welding on for the new rear subframe.

are you planning on having a pillion seat?
Some of the ones ive seen look quite nice with a single seat and a short pointy rear end.
What sort of lightsare you thinking? Ive always thought about having two projector style lights on the front one above the other a bit like one of the
ducatis but obviously with no fairing.
o and very bright crazy paintwork
Just a few ideas.
and +1 for the build diary idea

They seem to always have jacked up rear ends with short backs. Pegs set back and high. They look hard as nails. I bet if you type streetfighter bike
in google it will bring something up.
Oh and Renthal bars, but thats just standard street mods.
You certainly are building it from scratch. If you can be bothered you should really go to town and make a mad one off jobby.
+1 for build diary, now you have to do it!!!
Track days ARE the best thing since sliced bread, until I get a supercharger that is!

Craig has gone for more of a cafe racer style but a really nice looking bike. You can make anything work but generally I think streetfighters (all
bikes imho) look best when kept sleek and simple, tilt the seat up a bit with a simple rear end - BUT, the whole point is to customize the bike so
that its how you want it - so, what do you want?
Also remember that going mad on style might make a cool looking bike that rides like a kick in the yonkles!
A bird in the hand....

Cheers guys. I'm not going too mad with this as i need to get it done for july. Needs a pillion seat for the other half.
Im going to chop of the rear at the weekend but need to get some mouts tig'd on. im going to make the new rear from mild tube as i can work with
it easer as i can weld ali.

Good site that, but keep away from the forced induction section if you want to remain sane.

Im not massively into fighters, i build chops, lowriders and trikes etc
there is obviously the bespoke streetfighter magazine for sources of ideas etc
if I was approaching the project I would leave the main frame as original as possible, then no worries about MSVA etc
build the bolt on subframe from steel, far eaier to mod and build yourself. if you have access to someone that can TIG weld alloy, then even easier
would be to search the breakers for a tail unit that you like, complete with its subframe, then modify it to fit your main frame, this way the
bodywork will be properly fitted to the subframe, seats etc will be secure, a lot easier
for my taste and opinion that tail unit is too blocky and square, something more R1 or from one of the aprilia models would be perhaps a better bet.
yours looks like its from maybe a suzuki Rg model? very similar to the ones that used to be on RG125
straight bars or the run of the mill renthals, pair of projector style headlamps
nice short stubby exhaust can, or run it up under the seat.
its your build, so just do what you want, or whatever looks right to you.
for real bonkers fighter styling you need to search for german sites and photos, them guys really know how to build them

heavy is good, heavy is reliable, and if it breaks, hit them with it
