As i have said several times so far, I work for the educational system.

I have just been given a new group of learners as the tutor of that group just left and i need to cover the class.

The students, have been working on an assignment of 2 tasks which is supposed to be completed throughout the academic year.

Each task is a step by step guide on what they have to do and they need to tick each step when they complete it.

Task 1 has 30 steps and task 2 has 25 steps.

Most of the students have completed half of the assignment and the previous tutor has marked it and according to him/her, everything is fine.

I have been going through the assignments to see if there is anything missing and i noticed that there are 20 steps of Task 1 that haven't been completed properly or at all !!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, I have 5 weeks to complete the assignments before the end of the academic year which means pretty much start over and do it again properly.

3 hours writing feedback. another 6 to go through.

I feel like a cartoon who when they see something that scares them, their jaw drops to the floor.

Forgot to add, that last month, i had to do the Internal Verification on assignments from a group made by the person who is this particular qualification co-ordinator (the person in charge for the qualification that I deliver) and her assignments were in the same condition.

You can only do your best in the time you have available. It's admirable that you have the students best interests at heart but you are not responsible for their current predicament. Let your superiors and the students know this and just do your best....

I also think it's admirable that you have the students' best interests in mind - it's what makes the difference between just doing a job and genuinely making a difference.

Keep digging deep and do everything you can to pull everything back in line.

Make sure the relevent superiors are aware of the situation that's been left to deal with and what extent you've gone to to correct it.

Keep you chin up

chin up. compared to death, it does not rate that highly on the scale of crappiness.

come across chunking elephants?

just have someone cut the bear into into tiny pieces so each one fits into the hat and then pull them out. simples.

Personally I'd speak to the person who managed to get the bear in the hat in the first place

Seriously though, your situation sucks but your commitment is admirable. As the old saying goes if you want something doing properly do it yourself!!*

Feel your pain - Applied science - 75 kids with 9 bits of coursework each. Previous teacher lost 2 bits for each kid when she buggered off on maternity and was far to generous with her marking meaning when myself and mate picked up her classes, we had to pretty much redo it all and mark it and re moderate it in 10 weeks. The bitch didn't even return our calls about the work and is in for a hell of a stonewalling when she returns in September. TBF the kids have taken it really well and got stuck in, knowing its not our fault, and I think may even have better marks than they would have had, but We were seriously pissed off for a while.

Good luck

The person than put the bear in the hat is off.

Most annoying of all, Monday starts my graded observation week. If the HoD comes in to observe me, i am f****d and the college already has advertised redundancies for next year.
