Heres a head scratcher
Been renewing the bathroom , new floor, tiling etc etc and just about the fit the shower mixer but what a head ache its turning out to be.
So Ive got a hot and cold feed coming up the channeled wall behind the plasterboard with right angled tap connectors coming out of a slot cut into
the plaster board. these in turn screw into an adaptor a piece which allows for off centre pipe feed, a round chrome cover doohickey screws onto that
then the shower mixer screws onto that (and weighs a ton).
So problem is how to seal up the slot through the plasterboard and waterproof it then tile over that bearing in mind the weight of the shower
mixer.
Anyone any ideas.
Cheers,
Bob

Does the shower mixer not have a bracket to hold it to the wall?
Most I have seen fit to a piece of studding ... then just plasterboard/tile over the top...

How big is the slot? I've be tempted to fill it up with plaster and stick some scrim over it for strength. It needs to be flat, not pretty, if
you're tiling over it.

Easy use expanding foam not to much then filler
When dry apply pva glue over the joint and plaster board so your tile adhesive will stick .
If you dont use pva your tiles will fall off and crack your bath/shower base

Personally I would have used aquapanel in the first place then used good old cement to fill the hole
Otherwise you'll need some kind of noggin to attach the shower to. Normally the right angled tap connectors have three screw holes on the back
of it for said purpose.
Of course the other thing you can do if the tap connector is hanging in space is hook it all up then drill a hole through the other side of the wall
and squirt in some expanding foam. As long as the tiles on the wall securely it'll fill the gaps and hold everything tightly in place at the
same time. Obviously if you use too much it'll bulge the plasterboard, look rubbish and ping the tile off the wall (in which case I never told
you to do this ).

No its just got 2 tap connector nuts coming out of the back.
Not thought of expanding foam, good idea not too sure about filler though.

FFS! Don't talk to me about sinks.
Just got the bathroom looking quite nice. I had cut a rather tricky tile to get round the window frame and "rested" in in place to see
what it looked like. It looked so nice I left it in place.
Next day I'm building a carcass at the end of the bath and have to hammer in some fixings into the wall.... Forgot about the tile.
Comes crashing down, straight onto the brand new sink smashing it.
"oh well" thinks me, at least it didn't land on me so I'm not injured". Go to pick up a smashed bit of porcellain sink
(with it appears a razor sharp edge). Next think there's claret everywhere (and a broken sink).
Even worse I've decided I don't even like the sink and wanted to replace it at some point so now I'm going to have to buy two sinks
I don't like (putting in the replacement now would mean serious re-plumbing and currently we have no kitchen or living room. Or carpets. Or
electricity on the ground floor etc etc etc etc).
But we do have a ethernet network in all of the rooms and a 10 way switch My wife loves the way I got our priorities right when I was doing the
work!!

Sussed it, cut a square out of the plaster board round the connectors. Fixed the pipes with p clips, drilled holes to suit outlets in a piece of
plasterboard cut to fit square and cut the plaster board horizontal though hole centres then dabbed the board back into hole.
Snaffu job done.
Cheers,
Bob
