Stinking syn

Guys
I just got a little clarke compressor for use on a show stand to run a display but the oil synthetic really smells so is there anything I can do. Do all synthetic oils smell this bad or can I replace it. Does it have to be synthetic do you think could I get away with something else for my 2 day show.
