Mobile Phone scam - BEWARE!

Just to warn any of you who have kids with mobile 'phones!

My Son received a Text message saying "All Xmas Hits Happy Xmas". He accidentaly clicked on it whereupon it downloaded a tune to his 'phone, charging him £10 for the privelage!

I have spoken to his provider who say they have had other people with similar problems, so beware!

Apparently the company concerned are called 2ergo. Unsurprisingly, they are not answering their phone!

If any one knows of a regulatory body that I can complain to, I'd be glad to know!

Happy New Year!

OFCOM or Trading Standards I would think. Probably perfectly legal though, even if not very ethical.

what age is he? if he's been sent it and under 16 then i think its very much illegal.
if he's over 16, well, he would have had to open a text message from someone he doesn't know, and then click on a link on that text, well...

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Just 11 (going on 16!) - he only has a 'phone because he takes the bus to and from school and doesn't get home 'til 4:45 each day!

OFCOM will do very little, in a few months time as they're constantly inundated with this kind of thing.

Trading Standards don't have anything to do with it.

Ask me how I know

I don't

No really Ofcom admitted to us that they have so many complaints about mobile phone services they can't cope, and when it gets passed to trading standards they still haven't figured out that we're asking for a copy of the contract everyone claims to have...
