A solidworks challenge
Does anyone know enough about solidworks to help me with this?
I basically need to draw the glass part of a lightbulb so it is hollow inside, fairly thin... but I need to give the surface a 3D texture like a
golfball so it has many little faces to diffuse the light
Something a little like this....
How would you even go about starting something like that?
Although this is just a theoretical product, I do have to "consider" how it could be made.... so probs 2 halves of an injection
moulding...
Can anyone help? There may be some beer/money in it for you as this is causing me a big headache!

Should be fairly simple.
Goto 3dcontentcentral and download the golf ball model (about 12mb) and this is your base part. You should be able to resize and adjust all the
'dimples'.
Then extrude the bottom part of the 'bulb', then hit the 'thin' feature.

Heat is not an issue, and it does not need to be sealed.
Will try and get hold of the golfball model and give it a go later :-)

ive just upgraded to W7 on my home pc so cant actually try my way until i reload SW.
I would draw the ball, then add any other shapes like the holder at the bottom. Depending on if you require the dimples on the inside too (so creating
a single thickness) I would do a cut extrude for one of the dimples and then patten it around the ball. Then like said hit the thin feature.
If you wanted to have the inside smooth just do the cut and patten after the thin feature.
Wish i wasnt out of work and actually doing this stuff again.
