JGG's Wifely up date 20/01/2011

Thank you all for your previous kind thoughts and sentiments in my previous posts they have helped me no end and have been the best encouragement for my young lady.

Yesterday (19th) was a very long day. Sara had to be at Oxford by 11:30 for her Pre - Operation medical. Scheduled to take 3 hours. So we got there at 11am. having allowed extra travelling time for traffic (and pit stops for being sick, therefore no motorway travel). Sara had been being sick for about 36 hours by this time. We got into the first appointment with a selection of admission specialists, on time and I accompanied her into it to make sure she was settled. There being not a lot else I could do after that I retired to the car for a couple of hours sleep, having been awake for 19hrs by this time. I went back up to the clinic at 2:30pm and she had just one more doctor to see by this time. The doctor was however unhappy with Sara's nausea and wanted to ensure that this was not due to inter cranial pressure and related issues, so it was then another CT scan to check. We finally got away from Oxford at 5:30pm. I will certainly give them there dues, they are very thorough. The upshot of all this is that pending further checks on Sara's blood pressure and potassium levels (both possibly stress related or to do with the mass) then Sara now has an operation date of the 9th February. Should there be ANY further medical health developments that cause Sara's general condition to deteriorate, then we should attend Kettering A&E ( or call an ambulance ) and instruct them to contact Oxford for clinical assesment.

At this point in time we are looking at Sara being off sick and in recovery from the operation ( Posterior Fosser Craniotomy ) for 2 to 3 months. This should take us to close to the Stoneliegh Show, so I am working on Sara to make this a goal for her recovery, for Sara to attend the show (as support vehicle driver) to meet and greet as many of you all as possible to say thankyou for your kind support.

As you all say BE POSSITIVE.

Thank you ALL again for your kind support.

JGG

I don't know you but I've read your posts re Sara. My family has been through some trying times too (I am a full time carer) and my heart goes out to you at this time and I can only wish you both all the best. Good luck and hopefully Sara will be at Stonliegh and having a great time there and a happy summer to come!

Best wishes Si.

All the best thoughts to both of you! You sound like you're doing a top job of supporting her and easing what must be a very difficult time for Sara.

Very optimistic that the doctors that see her sound like they are very thorough and pragmatic and are trying to sort it out sooner than later, and properly.

Hope she recovers as quickly as possible, and has to wait till Stoneleigh eventually arrives!

Stand firm JGG, and stay positive.
My wife, Helen, fell ill in January 2009 and deteriorated at such a rate that she was in Intensive Care within five days.
She was quickly diagnosed as having a rare variant of Guillaine Barre Syndrome, a viral infection. One person in 250,000.
She spent nearly 150 days in ICU on ventilation followed by months on a ward and nearly a year in rehab. She finally came home in May 2010 and now returns to hosp twice a week for physio.
We can now look back on the dark times and look forward to better days.
One day, so will you.

Our thoughts are with you both.

Geoff

I look on this positively! Sara's problem has been identified and there is a plan to solve the problem, the beginning of the solution has started already!

Its the poor buggers who don't know they have a problem, who have the real issues, as you don't know what you don't know!

Best wishes from me too!
