I just did a revision to a part at work.....reduced it's weight from 2.145 pounds down to 0.872 pounds.

Revision description says.....

If my math is correct that is a 99.96% reduction in weight. Top notch Alan!

Pfff.... there aren't very many reductions going on here, not that I'm complaining about it.

It's a tad under 60%, but still impressive. Unless material spec was simply changed from depleted uranium to titanium

Unobtainum or Nonexistium even

Man..... my math isn't what it used to be I guess. Just checked it again and it is a 59.35% reduction in weight. As said, very impressive.

What did you do Alan, throw it in the bin and keep the wrapper?

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

At the start of WW2 Wiilys had trouble meeting the US Quartermaster General's specification for the original "Truck 1/4 Ton 4x4" Jeep they took as much weight out of everything they could, the final documentation read;

Weight xxxx pounds (Paint Sprayed Thin)

One of my winter jobs, on the 7, was to cut off any bolt that had more than a couple of threads showing, above the nut

I also have removed the spare wheel, and related braketry to attach to the back panel, as it was pointless having the thing there, plus the tyre was flat anyway

also a new (to me) caterham roll bar installed, that weighed a third of my old one

Now only one fog light, not two

and all the other little bits and piece's that are not really required

I have saved a total of 49lbs

My next mission is some LIGHT wheels, and slightley narrower tyres, so in theory could save another 20lbs as my current 2.8 capri units and tyres weigh a bloody ton

and i still weigh the same as 10 years ago, so i am not on a diet

Steve
