Football shame

Now I'm not really into football, but I've just flicked over and watched 15 mins of Barcelona v Madrid. I can't believe what I saw, 3 times players went down clutching their faces and writhing on the floor in agony when the replay showed no contact with their faces at all. Most of those 15 mins was taken up with these bunch of overpaid 'girls' faking it or crying to the ref. If this is what football is all about I'm glad I don't bother.

Aren't these ment to be two of the worlds top teams?

Rant over, back to the snooker for me.

the reality of what should be a fantastic match is a very 'tatical' game.

Its a shame as the sport doesn't benefit, but the teams managers have set things up that way and they're out to get a result any 'legal' way they can.

(please note the words in quotes).

I detest football.
But I was round someones house last week and some game was on, United vs City or seomthing.
Anyway, I too noticed that all the players seemed to be on the floor. I commented on it and then said 'I bet they can't go one minute without a player being tripped or falling over'.
And thats how I invented the new game 'One minute without falling over'.
I went for about 12 minutes (thats the longest I have ever watched football on TV) and there was never more than 50 seconds without someone on the floor.
Try it next time you are watching. You will be amazed how little time passes from one incident to the next.

I watched the Rugby League final in Australia last year - if a player stayed on the ground for more than 10 seconds he was seriously HURT - probably a stretcher case. Almost always a player would get tackled hard, pick himself up straight away and kick the ball back. He then carried on, even though he'd just been face-planted at a full sprint. And they'd do that for 80 or 90 minutes!

Just a bit different...

Isn't clutching the face the international signal for "I'm taking a dive"?

I saw someone get hit in the shoulder with a toilet roll and he went down holding his face
