Just incase any of you stil have your donors on sorn or scrapped keep your certificate or recipt from scrap man

Ive had to letters from the dvlni askin for fines for not taxing or renewing sorn on the vechiles

one was scraped and tax office notified the other has a current certificate from august 2004 and they want fine plus back tax from 1st august to 1st october

ive had this problem too, I scrapped a car ages ago and never sent the v5 off, now i cant remember who scrapped it. fortunately i moved house since so i suspect i wont hear anything about it...

i never reg mine in my name or sorn it.

one day I will write to them to tell them that when i got it from auction, i wrote off and told them it was scrapped. the fact they didnt do their job right hopefully wont be my problem.

ive had the donor 4 years.....

Cant remember what i did about my escort donor. in those days it didn't matter about sorn.... 5 years ago

I've had this problem as well. I phoned the DVLA up and explained the situation - my donor had been scrapped but the scrappers obviously hadn't sent off the reg docs so the DVLA still thought it was alive and well and living on my drive.

Once I explained it I was surprised how accommodating they were, they changed their records and cancelled my fine. Just goes to show that there are still some people out there that realise not everything is black and white and occasionally people make mistakes! I may have just caught the person on a good day but worth a try none the less...

my problem is that if i ring up (i have about 4 'lost' cars registered to me) i will incur more wrath.

like a kid not asking his parents if he can go out in case they say no!
