I got the GTR demo and it does indeed seem very realistic and very unforgiving. Looks like i'll be getting the full game then

I was a GPL fan too ceebmoj, and I know there's a couple more here too. Many GPL players made the jump to N2003 once the non-nascar mods
started coming out - the improved papy physics (mostly the tire model), pit stops, and even better online (net) code left GPL behind.
I'm with you, I don't like the easy driving games either. I get bored pretty quickly driving on a computer by myself or against AI
drivers no matter how pretty the car or track . GTR is supposed to be very good, but I've heard are the online code isn't much good at
all.
Mackie, by fields of 30+, I mean other real drivers competing with you fender to fender in real time - pickup and leagues racing. You can set the
number of visible cars separately (the game will drop cars furthest from you), and I agree, set that to get a reasonable frame rate.
Online league racing is almost as much fun as karting, but a lot safer and much cheaper. It can be quite a time sink though, if you let it.

One of the trick features in GT4 is the ability to use the new steering wheels that have 900 degrees of rotation (2.5 rotations) from lock to lock.
Much more realistic than the current 270+.

yes, definitely. you could do with just one hot caterham. just meant that any of those would be better than a classic in the game.
GPL is rock hard, esp for someone who plays it less than once a year on a friends computer! although the guy makes his own sounds and some of the
cars... don't even attempt trying nurburgring on that game tho
if you don't fail, you aren't trying hard enough.

If you're not living life on the edge you're taking up too much room.

GT1 = completed the game within two weeks.
GT2 = completed game within two weeks (but pre-ordered game for day of release, and took a week off work *just* for the cause...
GT3 = Took a month to complete.
The above includes getting golds in all the licenses.
What a game! Real pi55er that they keep putting back the release date.
The TOCA series are fab games too, and the 'race' feel of them is second to none.
If game programmers could take the realism of GT, and add it to the 'race' feel of TOCA, the game would be awesome...
Dont just build it.....make it!

I had a look at another Gran Turismo site, and the Japanese version came out yesterday, and included in it is .... <cue drumroll>
CATERHAM (U.K.)
Fireblade ('02)
Yep a knock off copy off an MK Indy Blade
Also apparently the tracks will include the Le Mans curcuit as well. I'll keep my eyes open for a UK/Euro release date.
Oh happy days.
