Great program, always worth a watch, but dont you find it a bit sus, when after 10mins of searching, they always find the critical missing part ? Like
the nutters that built a steam powered train, and just happened to unearth
a complete steam engine under an old van.
Yeah right. Its the kind of scrap yard you go to when you die.

Hmm a Land Rover mate of mine was on TV in a simmilar show Thunder Races, they had to build a car and race it. He Did a Rover V8 engined Nissan
Micra!.
they found him from his website, where he build a rover V8 Mini.. Transverse Engined as well.. on a Maxi / Land Crab gearbox.
1. The point of a journey is not to arrive.
2. Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.

Wadders,
Quote "Great program, always worth a watch, but dont you find it a bit sus, when after 10mins of searching, they always find the critical missing

I was part of the driller thrillers filmed in 1999). We did the land yacht. One of the critical components is sail material. i dont know about you but
the last time i was in a scrap yard suitable sail material was a bit thin on the ground. I was the scavenger and rolled up inside a large bore steam
pipe i found a huge roll of sail material!! What a find. What was even more amazing was that an hour or so before i looked there and found nothing. A
few cross words on the mic back to the team must have been picked up by the crew.
Brilliant programme but as you would guess heavily engineered towards viewing pleasure. Ours was a twin sail job. The 'expert' go us
building it but eventually it transpired that no-one has ever been able to make one successfully - especially to carry 4 people! The megs were the
worthy winners in the end and went on to win other events.
Good fun was had by all but it was hugely hard work - you have to be mad to want to do it again.
Darren.
