More information from the Locost owner in the USA
By the way, am I the only Locost owner in the USA 
VIN: BA93KJ35809
Engine black casting: 71M-6015AA
serial number stamped on engine pad: AD80090
Head has never been off the car to the best of my knowledge. Did not see a casting number in the head, but did see a stock intake and exhaust manifold
(no header).
Anyone that can assist in decoding the above???? It would be appreciated.

From the engine serial number the AD means it was made in July 1980 which indicates that its probably had an engine change from the 1600 donor as
discussed in the previous thread (as this would put on a V or W plate not the H you have) (possibly to the 1300 you think it has). I dont know how to
tell the difference between a 1300 and 1600 engine, someone will though.
There was a thread not long ago, talking about what the casting numbers meant.

what side does the exhaust come out? (veiwed from drivers seat) if its on the left its a cross flow,see how many fingers you can get between top of
water pump and stat housing,2 will be 1100/1300,3 will be 1600
who cares who wins

The exhaust does indeed come out of the left side of the car, so at least at this point we know it's a crossflow. Will check with the finger
test (will also take an accurate measurement with a tape measure) on Wednesday or Thursday, next time I'm at the warehouse where I have it
stored.

According to the book, Rebuilding and Tuning X-low and Pinto Engines by P & J Wallage, the engine casting number should be 711M-6015AA, the AA
indicating that it started life as a 1100 or 1300 engine.
1600's have AB in the casting number.

So then we'll assume (yes, I know the joke) that this is indeed a 1300cc crossflow engine and work for there.
